Setup steps

1. Step 1

   Install Crossdock from the Shopify App Store

   Installing is read-only. At install, Crossdock asks Shopify for read permissions only — products, inventory, orders, and locations — so you can look around, map your catalog, and preview a first sync without a single change to your store. Write access is a separate approval that Shopify asks for only when you turn sync on.

2. Step 2

   Connect your Square account

   From the Crossdock dashboard, choose Connect Square. You will be sent to Square's own authorization screen, where you approve the permissions Crossdock asks for, and then returned to the app. Crossdock never sees or stores your Square password; the connection is an access token Square issues to us, which you can revoke from Square at any time.

   Once connected, pick the Square location Crossdock should sync. Your catalog and inventory come from that location.

3. Step 3

   Let Crossdock find the products you already have

   If your Shopify store is already populated — because you set it up by hand, or because you are moving over from another sync app — Crossdock does not start by creating duplicates. It scans your existing Shopify catalog and tries to match each Square item to a product you already have.

   Matching is done on SKU first, and on barcode when a SKU is missing, so it works even if your Shopify product titles and handles have drifted from the Square names. Every match is sorted into a confidence tier, and you review the results before anything is written.

   • Exact matches — the SKU (or barcode) lines up cleanly. These are pre-selected for you.
   • Partial matches — some signals line up and some do not. Listed for you to look at, never adopted automatically.
   • Conflicts — the same identifier appears in more than one place. Listed for manual review so you decide, not us.
   • No match — Crossdock creates the product on the first sync instead of adopting one.

4. Step 4

   Review, then confirm the adoption

   The adoption review screen shows you exactly what will happen: which Shopify products get linked to which Square items, and what each variant's price will be afterwards. Your current Shopify prices are preserved — Crossdock records the difference between your Shopify price and the Square price as a per-variant markup, so adopting does not quietly re-price your store.

   Adopting also decides who wins on stock: after adoption, Square is the source of truth and your Shopify inventory is set to match Square's on-hand count. That trade is stated on the screen, and the confirm button is your consent to it. Nothing is written until you press it.

5. Step 5

   Set your markup and rounding

   Crossdock never copies the Square price straight across. It computes your Shopify price from a rule you control: the Square price plus a percentage, a fixed amount, or both — then rounded up to a clean ending (no rounding, nearest $0.05, or .99 endings). Rounding always goes up, so you are never undercharged.

   Set the shop-wide default on the Pricing page inside the app, and give an individual variant its own override when one product needs different treatment.

6. Step 6

   Preview the first sync, then run it

   Before the first write, Crossdock shows you a dry-run plan: how many products it will create, how many it will update, and what it will skip. Read it, then run the sync. From that point on, catalog changes you make in Square flow through to Shopify automatically, and inventory moves in both directions within seconds of a sale on either side.

7. Step 7

   Know where to look afterwards

   Day-to-day, there are three surfaces worth knowing. The dashboard tells you whether sync is healthy and when it last ran. The activity log tells you what synced and what failed, searchable by product name. And notifications tell you when something needs a decision from you — most often, that someone edited a synced product directly in Shopify.
